Six is perfect for today. I have been planning this weekend for over six years; a weekend in Chicago with my daughter, centered around the American Girl Place.
For six birthdays and six Christmases I decided only to buy few gifts, for two reasons: time and space. Time because kids only have a short age window of about a year to play with most toys before moving on to the next “big thing.” Space because the walls of our house are solid– we can’t just make more space for more toys. I have NEVER regretted my decision.
My other argument is that our kids won’t remember most of these gifts either. Laura will remember this trip. Forever. So will I.
Today, we ended our day by going through her toys, and retired one in exchange for the new, “Hannah Rose,” and six more for a memorable weekend.
This is a wonderful memory that you will be making for Laura, as well as yourself. We live in a world of excess (we a blessed for sure) but nothing will replace those wonderful memories that you will cherish forever!
Amen!! Memories are made on building relationships, Stuff doesn’t last, relationships do!!!!
No way!! My youngest daughter’s name is Hannah Rose!!!
That’s awesome!!
